Repellent

I  am intolerable.

Why do people talk to me?

Touch me?

View my open arms with grace?

I am the common factor in falling apart.

I don't try to push people towards the exit,

But everyone's gone.

I'm sick. Disgusting.

No one wants to hear my voice.

My skin burns skin.

At least I warn everyone.

You shouldn't want me.

Join the future. Go away.

I know it's crossed your mind before-

Trust me. I've probed it.

I'm a monster who devours thoughts

And preys upon emotions like a psychopath.

I tried to suppress it.

Apparently hiding is bad.

But when a lion comes to the open,

Sensible creatures flee.

And people run far away from me.

Hi! My name is Elizabeth Davenport, and I'm a college student who loves all things language, no matter what language it is! I'm probably reading, writing, or dancing in the rain right now. I'm a featured poet, Aura, on diesandnoctis.com (go check them out: they're great!), and use the names E.D., Elie Dav, and Elizabeth Davenport when posting my own.
