REPLY VERSION FOR "THE SHALLOW SHORE" ...AN INVITATION

I see the performance you display, The brilliant rush of silver spray. I hear the crowd that cheers the sound Of thunder on the shallow ground. But I am standing past the line Where superficial waters shine; I see the pull, I feel the strain, Of all your unacknowledged pain. You do not have to hide the storm, Or keep the surface smooth and warm. You do not have to tame the tide To save the secrets locked inside. Bring up the dark, bring up the cold, The bitter stories left untold; Pour out the weight of all you keep Within a world so vast and deep. So let the heavy currents break, And shatter everything they make. Forget the shore, forget the crowd, And let your grief be fierce and loud. I will not shrink, I will not flee Before the terror of your sea; I’ll stand right here amidst the foam And hold the space to bring you home. Pour out the raw, the pure, the wild, The ancient depths that you compiled. Unleash the tears, release the history, And strip away the heavy mystery. For I am here, and I will stay, Until the currents wash away, To hold the things you never show, And meet the heart you keep below.
