the reprise

when a boy tells you he loves you

do you let the words fill your mouth like riverwater

and when a boy promises you the world

do the gates open and does the flood crash in

and when a boy dreams of a marriage

does the water beat your throat into submission

and when a boy leaves you for another

does the river overflow into your lungs

stopping the oxygen from entering

Or, do you adapt to the river?

do you let it overcome you or do you become aquatic?

will you fight back when a boy tells you he loves you?
