The Rescue

A dark and weary land I do know now So filled with angst and grief and pain Fear fills me. What is joy? I know not how My life can change. The black and pouring rain, I’m drowning in this pain. Would someone hear A cry for help, a soul so lifeless, low? Then suddenly a hopeful hand thrusts near And grasps me, hugs me tight, and holds me so My desperation starts to fade away As now I see the all-redeeming light His love has covered all the hurt today My heart is clean and now it screams “I’m white!” My eyes are struggling, holding joy-filled tears Pure Jesus Christ has cast out all my fears.
