Respect Is A Thing

Don’t talk

while I’m talking

Look at me

when I’m addressing you

I promise you

I’m not wasting my breath

simply because I like to hear my voice

I’m an equal

so treat me like one

And if you look down on equals

Then treat me better

Use words like “please” and “thank you”

I am more than willing to help you

with anything

But listen the first time because

I don’t like to repeat myself.

Respect is a thing.

If you have a complaint

Write it down.

Don’t like how I’m doing something?

Offer to do it better

Or keep it to yourself.

Don’t be disruptive in class.

If I am trying to learn

Then let me.

Pay attention.

Take a nap

Or go to the bathroom instead.

Use your common sense

If you do something wrong

Apologize.

Make it right.

If you make a mistake

Fix it.

Don’t let it happen again

Or at least try.

If you need help

Ask for it.
