Responsibility
When a broken marriage or sickness take a parent away
The course of life continues on in the exact same way.
The kids are forced to pick up the slack
And gain all the skills some adults lack.
They take care of others and the house without mention
Desperate not to draw any unwanted attention.
So they go about life as if nothing has ever changed
Even though their whole life has been rearranged.
They make sure that no one hears a single grown
Why put their problems on others, they have problems of their own.
So they withdraw themselves and pretend there is no mess
Even though others want to alleviate some stress.
The expression of help is never a weakness
It’s a challenge asking who wants to beat this.
