Responsibility

I lied awake to the blare of a 5:30 morning alarm. Skull-piercing monotony awaited my day, and what I thought, future. Another morning where the imprint of red modernized font was plastered in my head. Where the bedside warmth was replaced by a frigid nip that straightens the spine. Rushing air past the street prompted me to close my window, only to be met by an illuminating wake-up call-shining all throughout the neighboring apartments. Fading roars of engines could be found than lost, reintroducing the outside world. By a sealing snap and a drop of a curtain, I was amidst the darkness once more. A  flick of a switch, and reality had set in. There was no escaping the fluorescents, and I was forever doomed to a 9-5.
