Rest

As I stand here between past and future. As the burden of decisions tempts and pushes me in opposing directions As the pressures of becoming a better version of myself Step out for the murky shadows Why does rest hide when success knocks at the door? Nighttime rises, the city wide awake, the valleys are all silence The mind replays that scene that will one day become reality The dream of becoming the doctor or lawyer Of making your parents proud Even in darkness success beams its light In everyone's darkness But when can I rest? I will not rest until my body screams "STOP! NO MORE!" Until my mind shuts of its open sign Only to reopen the next day Until my heart sings a different pleasant tune With every closing of its valves. Success is my destiny The image in my dreams My tour guide for the future But I cannot let it pass me by If I ever take a chance to stop and Rest.
