Rest
Wishing and needing are not the same thing i presume
And yet I keep wanting and keep wishing never discerning
If what i buy is key to survival
Yes I live in America but that doesn’t mean everything is free
And it doesn’t mean that getting what i want will give me liberty
I keep wishing for a pillow for a bed
A place to rest my head close my eyes from the world
And I realize that’s what I need
And I realize i already have it
Faith in God isn’t a wish isn’t a want
Faith is what I need to survive
Reading of the destruction in the book of Jeremiah isn’t a want
But it’s a need because I see the grace underneath the ruins
Standing up in worship isn’t because I want look holier than thou
It’s a need because I can’t stay sitting in the presence of my God
I want to fit in, I want to be with the popular opinion that says
What I want is to be a slave
When really what i see is that we all need freedom
And I believe i’ve found it
And I will continue to need to stand and I will continue to read
Because that is what I need to do
I will keep my eyes trained on the hills
Because that is what I need
I need that pillow
And I need the rest that only He can give
