Resuscitate

The sun creeps in everyday

Just as the moon at night

With light to cast on the world below

Its silent love, its worth, its fight –

Yet in my world

The silence grew and my voice fell dead inside

Where lips did not curl

And where my heart began to die –

Poetry – my lifeline in the storm,

Poetry – the oxygen in my lungs,

Poetry – the hope for a better tomorrow,

It cradles me to sleep

Holds my tears and memories

A constant confidant in a time of need –

Poetry is how I learn to be free
