Retrospective!

The phone is tossed aside

Forgotten under a table

That makeup bag is cracked and dust

Tools meant to keep us down

No longer needed

Nothing can hide me

No screen, paint, or wall

No precious jewels or

Oblivious eyes

Can pry me away from

My true place

Where I belong

Where I’m meant to be

Acceptance is futile when it doesn’t ring true

In your own heart

Why am I beautiful without those chains?

Only because I realized

I am
