Returning summer
Planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whom does not wither.
Winter fast approached. Light receded.. Each life, each leaf began to dry and crack. Roots dug deeper. The bastion of unwavering life and energy stood confident; assured that nothing would wither, yet more and more pieces fell off each day. Vibrant and colorful wind and light flashed away. Just as it began to float upon it's fruitful rewards; as it began to blossom a multitude of petals and colors to share with the world; all was suddenly gone. Overcasted as suddenly as a blanket stifling a promising fire that would warm and light. The sun no longer could pierce the clouds. Light and rays no longer shone through every crevice and opening. The water petrified; as if the pain of the world was so great that it stilled it's tears. Roots burrowed even deeper to find something to sustain it; but without even light it began to falter and tilt. Groaning in pain; weighted by everything around it; it began to stoop. Once standing proud and tall with thousands of vibrant colors and light spreading across in a million directions; now straining away; a shadow of it's old habit of spreading light. Light faded; shadows grew. What was once confident in lasting generations could not withstand another day without it's light and water. Pieces fall without a sigh to regrow; color recedes; and all that it has ever amounted to; all that it has ever witnessed and grown for, stopped mattering. Shivering and creaking; a small shaking sigh whispers into the wind.....he needs his light. A hundred summers never brought the light that this summer has brought; the colors, the wonder; the intricate shadows and light that danced everywhere when reflected from him; and he can't live without it anymore.
The waters have frozen. Light has receded. The tree is falling. Please come back; my summer. So that I may grow and be happy once more.o here)
