Reunited
As I look back, I just thank God for bringing me this far,
When I was bout four, my sister and I got taken away from mom.
They thought it was neglect cause little sister ate one of her, as I called them, “crazy” pills she dropped on the floor.
So... we got thrust into the system.
I was afraid cause I didn’t know what to do,
but I knew I had to be strong for my sister too.
Yeah I was in foster care, but not a lot of people know that about me.
I just dread re-living that moment without my family.
Getting to see them every once in a while just wasn’t enough for me.
We really missed our family, our foster mom could see.
This stand in mom was just in it for the money.
She never loved us as her own,
treated us like we were chewed up dog bones
Couldn’t ever go outside to play with the other kids-
Even got yelled at for asking for food.
I would even have to sneak at night just to use the bathroom.
It felt like a nightmare I couldn’t wake up from,
Just wanted it to be done and all over with.
Then that day finally came, we got our real family back!
My granny took custody of us, and we moved back in with her.
The best part about that was that it was on my fifth birthday!
I couldn’t ask for anything greater than the gift I got that day.
Mom was still not well, but I still loved her anyways
She was still around, sometimes, but her mind wasn’t always there.
God did answer my prayers when I asked to be back home
He may not come when you want him, but he is always right on time.
Experiences have shown me that you should always cherish family,
Cause you don’t know when you’ll see them again.
I’ve learned that begging gets you nowhere.
When begging for the people not to take you away,
It doesn't make a difference to them where you stay.
I cried and cried everyday,
But I cry no more- I cried my last tear yesterday.
Now I’m stronger, my mom is stonger.
we’re both wiser.
I’m better, my mom is way better.
When I look back over all He’s brought me through,
I realize I made it cause I had God to hold onto.
Cause I never could have made it without you.
