Reveal Yourself

Someone once told me 'people wear masks', You're probably asking why do we wear them, We wear them to hide our deepest fears, To shield our millions of micro-imperfections that only we can see, To plaster on fake smiles when we need to, To hide the pain of the many knives that are lodged in our backs, To hide the stains of our tears, To force together the shattered pieces of a broken heart, To cover up the self-inflicted scars, To paint ourselves the way we wished we looked, To try and achieve an 'ideal' size or weight you are shamed into being, To muffle our unheard screams, A mask can hide it all, 'A mask' I thought to myself, Perhaps it's better to let our masks fall, Don't muffle your screams when you had enough, Don't be ashamed of your beautiful unique body, Smear that make up off your face, Don't cover your battle scars they are your experiences, Your heart will heal on its own with time don't force it, Your tears do not mean you are weak, Let the pain from the knives be shown as your lessons, Rather than faking a smile find the thing that makes you truly happy, Your imperfections are simply a part of your imagination since your perfect for being you, Your fears can be easily overcome once you let your masks fall, Show your true face, The only one who needs to accept you is yourself, Remove the masks.. As I did, Now show the true you.
