Revealing the Mask
Taking off make up is like taking off a mask,
without the make up it leaves me naked.
Putting every bit of make up on just right is a task,
without the makeup i would feel forsaken.
Without piles and piles of worthless crap on my face,
I feel as if I’m free.
I’m actually a girl who is not’t a disgrace,
One who just wants to let it be.
Being free from all the stress of being like others,
Causes me not to fret and worry.
Without peers critiquing me like mothers,
Makes me see life less blurry.
People look at me differently without the makeup on,
Saying I look like I’m dying.
Thinking to myself I knew I needed a filter put-on,
But in reality I did not’t want to be lying.
Everyone puts filters on their pictures to make them look better,
But I have realized that it’s not the pictures fault.
In every girls head they just want to be more than a letter,
Not the one that people go to on default.
Behind the makeup and the filter I feel pretty,
And it makes me feel as if I could live in the big city.
Without the makeup I feel witty,
As if I could rap like P Diddy.
