Revelations

The sky began to glow

As the moon began to dance with the sun

The moon fully present

Yet fading into the night

As the sun wades into

The ocean of clouds

Drowning me in its beams

I stare up at the sun

Prepared to go blind

Not wanting to see anything anymore

After I saw his eyes quiver

After I saw his body shiver

After I saw his blood slither

Down my face

Like a snake

Tempting me to speak its language

As it glided down my cheekbones

Dripping onto my hands

As if telling me that I could never be Pilate

That I would never be able

To wash my hands of his blood

Since I could not wash myself free

I run towards the illusion of freedom

I run through

Forests of concrete

Canopies of brick

And underbrush filled with broken glass

As The purple and pink sky

Paints buildings

As the sun ducks  between them

Tracking my exodus but never showing itself

Until I stand in a beam of red light

Nearly blinded by it

My eyes rise

To see

The setting sun piercing the church

From back to front

Causing the stained glass to shine reddish orange sunlight

Onto the sidewalk and as the heavy oak door beckons

I straggle through and collapse into a pew

My mind somewhere far from where I am

And as easily as

He said that I am the am

I ask that the Lord Forgive me for my sins
