The Revoulion
The revolution will not be televised
No
The revolution will not be televised
The revolution will be live
No more freedom in disguise
It’s only freedom in the skies
So I keep my head high
And think about our ancestors who made it home
And how they looking down at us
thinking like what the world is going on
This is what we fought for
And took physical assault for
So we can treat each other worse than the slave owners that bought us
We’re buying drugs and then we deal them to each other
Not thinking about the fact that we are killing one another
We want money, power and respect
But what is that?
When the same kids that you neglect
Are going to be the ones who run the world
Did you forget?
When are we going to start caring about the decisions that we’ve made?
Is it going to be when you’re 30?
And you get killed by the person you jumped in 12th grade
Or is it going to be when you’re homeless?
And the same kid in high school you were calling bummy
Is the person you have to ask for money
Is it going to be when you beat that kid up?
Just cuz you wanted to seem tuff
But then your friends put it on Facebook so end up locked up
Or is it going to be in the hospital
When you’re on your death bed infected
And the doctor that has to cure you
is the kid in school you always disrespected
It’s crazy how dramatic I have to be before you all can even get the message
Why does it seem like nobody listens until something big happens
But, I’m just trying to put the message in your brain
Hoping when you read this poem you will not leave out how you came
Hoping this is just a spark that will someday ignite a flame
That will sit in your chest and give you heartburn until you want to change
But, like I said I can only give the message
And pray to god and hope in my heart that you’ll accept it
Just don’t reject it
Because like I said
The revolution will not be televised
The Revolution Will Be Live!
