Rewritten Memories

Every time it is recalled It arrives changed Small details you shouldn’t notice But do And they’re not what you remember There are gaps where certainty used to sit Blank spaces that feel too deliberate to ignore The same moment Rewritten a thousand times Each version slightly wrong yet slightly right Until there is no difference between the right and wrong The bad and good And as the lines begin to blur So does their meaning Until you no longer trust what it means And still it returns Ever different yet still the same Rewritten until it feels as if it was never changed at all
