The Rhythm of Life

Some find music in a set of headphones

While others create it with strings and pianos

There is never a place, a time, nor a space

where music is shunned, unwelcome, displaced.

For life is a rhythm, a plan, we strategize

To build up this facade, poisoned-riddled with lies

All so we might boast of our painful disguise

And all rhythms steadfast avert their sad eyes

To watch us demolish the good in such sounds

We drive inspiration and soul underground

Where has it gone? Rhythm cries in the streets,

For the joy and emotion made now obsolete.

As the chatter and bustle of life overtake

The colors of music are faded to grays

New tempos of chaos, anxiety drowns out

All peace and all beauty to never be found.

When melodies submit and tempo succombs

As the light and joyful exhausted grow old

Music and Rhythm hold fast for the day

When the world is restored, the dark faded away

But for now Rhythm treks on, mundane and alone

Gripping tightly its last strand-the presence of hope.
