Ribcage

Who can write a poem without such intense emotions?

Emotions like their deep sorrow or the bliss that comes with every passionate kiss.

Surely I would know what it's like to be held back and only to be set loose when stricly necessary.

Four walls that scoff and laugh in my face late at night because there they hold me until I am sick and overwhelmed, truly weary.

Wings binded by words and restrictions in need of a life with no limitations.

Searching for a sweet escape, can there really be such a place?

Where the language of butterflies is the only tongue and nobody mutters or yells any remark but instead offer a gentle embrace.

Can you please tell me that there is that safe haven?

Where hope is not purposely shattered and dreams are not stomped upon but given motivation.

My heart pounds violently causing my chest to heave gasping for its freedom, to one day live not counting every beat but instead count the moments that are worth living.

It beats and beats ever so violently desperate to break free from the rib cage that holds it safely.

But what is life within the walls of such safety?

When there is nothing that makes your blood pump with genuine ecstacy.

I find it truly pointless to stay behind safe walls when I am aware that life is too short to be held down by it all.
