the rider

The rider stood

beneath his hood

At the front door of the bar

Then rang out the dinner bell

To which the riders cloak then fell

Revealing his deep white scar

The light went out

It shattered fast

The men their faces became aghast

The bartender shouted

"You there, get out!"

The dark man dashed

his cloak they grabbed

And "thief" they jabbed

As the man jumped and slashed

The tender lit a small red candle

The bottles clinked and clanged

The voices, still they ranged

The man, he turned, hand on handle

The light came on

The whiskey, gone

The sun shone in

With the light of dawn
