To the Right

Slowly I walk, with a tray in my hands. My eyes won't leave the ground. It doesn't take long for a girl to get used to the cafeteria sound I shuffle my feet and play with my food as I lean against the wall. Each table is round and packed with chairs in our school's dining hall. One table, girls with uniforms and skirts, They flip their long blonde hair. They laugh, and talk, and speak of their day I try so hard not to stare. To the right, a group with their eyes half closed I wonder if they know where they are Lucy's in the sky with diamonds You low? You high? You near? You far? To the right, their shirts too tight to fit, 1 rack, 2 rack, 3 rack, 4. They lean on the table, falling out. "Always leave them wanting more". To the right, pages turn and numbers read glasses pushed up on the nose spending their lunchtime in their books, this is what they chose. To the right, to the right, to the right, I study everyone. Don't be fooled, my mouth stays shut but my mind is on the run. To the right is my favorite to watch They get along so well, the misfits and the wallflowers, it isn't hard to tell. She is a bird that can swim, He is a train with square wheels, but still they smile so bright the fun they have at meals. She smiles with knowing in her eyes as his stache is covered in milk. He wipes his mouth and tousles her hair, his tone as smooth as silk. And still I sit down here, with my fruit and mystery meat, Maybe they'll see me, and glance my way I'll take that open seat. To the right, the right, the right right right, I know everyone around. But the only ones I want to be in the cafeteria sound... The wallflowers, the ones that don't fit in They smile whatever the weather, I want to be just like them, Lets be misfits together.
