Right Foot, Left Foot

Right foot, left foot. Pound the road less traveled on those tired toes. Tired reminds me that I am alive. Tired reminds me of the journey I walked on the road less traveled. Dusty feet, leaving footprints to remind me of the places I've once been... Footprints, one set to be exact. God? Did you carry me? Because I feel as though every angel that was cast from Heaven has ripped and torn at me every step of the way. Life is a balance; like walking a tightrope, surrounded by clowns and a jeering crowd. Never look away, never look down, keep your eyes up, on a focal point... On you... I turned away in shame and lost my balance, I plummeted down, to the road less traveled. you gave sight to the blind man, but took mine away, can I learn to praise the God who gives, and takes away? Father, how many times do I have to die and be reborn? Because it hurts like hell... Where must we go, we who wonder this wasteland in search of our better selves? A single set of footprints on this dusty road I travel. Do I stop and build my house on the side of this road and spend the rest of my days in purgatory? No? Why? I'M LOSING MY MIND... Half the time I cry bitter tears of loneliness, Half the time I laugh and cry tears of happiness and hope. I know you cast my sins as far as the East is from the West, so why do I turn tail and run every time we get close? The Bible tells me there is a time to mourn and there is a time to dance. I gave up dancing a long time ago and my mourners shroud has become the only piece of clothing I own. Is that why I run? I'm naked... My body covered in the stories that I carry with me from my time on the road less traveled... Feeling hideous, needing to hide, ashamed of my nakedness and blinded by my mourners shroud... "Peace! Be still!" you say. you lift the veil from my face and whisper to me, "My beautiful child, do not be ashamed, you have nothing to hide from, let yourself be exposed for who you are, do not hide in the darkness, YOU are a living breathing history book, let yourself be read. With outstretched wings, use watchful eyes, protect the unprotected, love the unloved, and breathe life into the lifeless. My child, there is a time to speak, and a time to be silent, would you have heard me if I called? You force a flower to open before its ready and it will die, because I live, you to shall live... you pulled that mourners shroud down over your eyes and lost your balance, and fell down to the road less traveled, to wander blind until you accepted my love and help once again. My love, you were never alone, I walked beside you. You may have been torn at by fallen angels, but I fought Satan himself for your soul, and what a hold he had. You kept pushing forward, you kept fighting, even when you felt hopeless and alone. You fought to get back to me, so I fought for you. Now rest awhile, Dear one, and let me carry you."

Hey there, I'm Heather. I am, by no means a "born writer", I have tried for many years off and on to do writings but I always seemed to be around people that tore me down or made me feel like a crappy writer. My confidence has always been extremely low about my writing. Recently, I've been feeling a rumbling in my heart to express myself more through writing, throw caution to the wind and let my heart dance across the page... I was diagnosed with quite a few different conditions, to name a few, my good friend Anxiety, Anxiety decided to bring along her friend Panic Attacks (wasn't to happy about that), I also have a stalker that's been following me around my whole life, his name is PTSD, I also have a friend that sits just out of view but I know she's always there, her name is Dysthymia. My last friend I call Hashi's, thats short for Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, that's where my own body thinks that my Thyroid is an intruder and it does everything in its power to kill my thyroid (talk about an inner conflict). My life is worth living because I am a mom, I fight hard against the things that try to bring me down for him, I write because I know it helps me reduce the anxiety and depression that I struggle with so I can be more present for him, I also write because I know narrative therapy is proven to work and help heal traumas in a non-invasive way. Removing myself from my trauma and putting it into story form helps me process things I've been through, helps me feel compassion and empathy for myself (when usually I am my own worst critic, and extremely negative towards myself). It is a constant battle to try and tune out the negative self talk, and I know many people struggle with this, so I hope whoever reads this will feel a bit more love, kindness, and empathy for themselves. -With outstretched wings, use watchful eyes, Protect the unprotected, love the unloved, and breathe life into the lifeless- Love, Heather
