The Ring

A ring rests lightly on my finger

No not a golden band,

A simple piece of metal,

I doubt you'd understand.

Placed what seems so long ago,

Though mere months its only been.

A ring given to me, by my best and dearest friend.

I know it doesn't seem like much,

No meaning has it too you.

For me this simple ring,

The only thing that gets me through.

You could never understand

the joy it brings to me,

This simple little band holds all my tranquility.

It rests lightly on my finger

As if there's nothing there.

But every time I see it,

I know that someone cares.

See he who placed it on my hand,

In heart is so much more than friend.

The only light along my path,

He heals the pain, blocks the wrath.

My heart he holds within his hands.

A piece of his I still hold true,

When this ends I wont know what to do.

Lost with him not by my side,

All I'll have left to do is hide.

When that day comes no need to fear,

It wont take long for me to disappear.
