In the Ring

I hate when you tell me

have a good evening

it feels so impersonal

and too proper

like we haven't been talking for weeks

and you really are 10 years older.

It's like you're moving backwards

while I'm trying to push harder

It's not even worth the effort

but I'm still training myself

on not giving up on you.
