Ring Ring

Ring Ring

The bell rings signaling the start of school

A sound of optimism

My first day of school

You walk me up the stairs as I nervously rattle as we part ways

I do not want to go but as I enter the door I look up to you and for a split second

knowing I can succeed as you had

I am at peace and no longer worry

Ring Ring

My first day of highschool

The worn out sounds of the bell drown out

We pull up to the front doors together

My cocky confidence evenly matched by your sinister senioritis

As we walk in we part ways once again a tinge of nervousness fills me

yet I look at you and am filled with peace once again

Yet this time rather than looking up to you we are equals

Finally Brother and Sister

Finally Best Friends

Ring Ring

The doorbell rings as we receive long awaited mail

We gather around the table as you open the letter

The moment of truth,

Inclosed in that letter hopes and dreams and butterflies of the stomach all sealed and delivered on our table

Rejected.

I had never seen you heartbroken once in my life yet in that moment you looked to me in all knowing peace that everything will work out fine

And you rise like a phoenix from the ashes

Overcoming any set back

It is the most beautiful yet disheartening sight

That in your moment of weakness I had some selfish hope you would not have to leave

Ring Ring

The phone rings for the last time as admissions and commitment are finalized

You had rose just as expected and overcome to find your path

It is almost surreal that in a few short months you will be gone

That peace I have always looked for in you in every moment of weakness

Is only in spirit

No longer a tangible, physical reminder that no matter who, what, when where, why

You will always be with me, supporting me, making me laugh, making me cry and everything under the sun

Yet I will never forget that you are in me

Through thick and thin,

In hope and despair,

Near or Far

Because

Even when you are not around, as you have been my whole life

And I am no longer at peace and may at times worry,

You are only a ring away.
