RIP

five years ago in june, you left us

they said you had heart problems

I guess that explained the

huffing and puffing

and how you would

run out of breath

but then why is it that

they said they would fix you

but you never left that hospital...,

not without saying goodbye

and why is it that

you were in the ICU

but...I never got to see you

not until the funeral...

I miss the times you

used to sit outside

and read the paper

the way you took care

of your garden

and all the vegetables you grew

I miss the time you came

to john street school at 3 o clock

with an umbrella

so I didn't have to walk home in the pouring rain

I even missed that one time

when you pinched me on the side

of my arm because i turned

off the TV while you were watching the news

I really miss those times

but I guess you're here in spirit

through these poems

and these pictures

and through the flowers

that bloom and

the vegetables that grow

and through the news channel

and even through the

pouring rain as im walking

home from school.
