A Ripple in the Pond

Sun, 07/08/2018 - 20:06 -- im89la

A ripple in a dark pond may seem just that

But the ripple reveals none of the chaos underneath

There could be plates shifting over each other

Volcanoes ready to spew hot lava

The constant push and pull of currents

But above the water one sees only a ripple

And cannot guess what stirs the surface

Perhaps a fish or a fly

But unless one goes underneath

Peers hard into the murky depths

They will never know what stirred the water

Until the tsunami comes to engulf

Everything that saw the ripple in the first place

Even then, they may not know

Why the tsunami flooded the town

And why the dark water rippled
