Riptide

The voracious water ever waiting

Sweeps my friend away as my eyes close

Always my eyes are drifting farther

I dream of my friend

My friend forged red in courage

Is the ocean so audacious?

Surely the sea can see something not to eat

But water is patient

All-encompassing

I remember my friend in the rain

The sea may touch me

I go to join my companion

Surely I am worth my darkness
