The rise and the fall

What is it really
That makes life worth living
Is it the lies being told
That your constantly forgiving

Is it the love that you share
That is never returned
The emotions that you show
For the love that’s never earned

Is it the pain that you endure
With the tears that you cried
And the lifelong scars
That you forever try to hide

Is it the success that you reach
To gain pride in oneself
For others to take advantage
Something you built yourself

Is it the failure you endure
Cuz the result of your inability
Or lack of motivation
With nothing in proximity

Is it the decisions that you make
That no one else condones
With little information
On a subject no one knows

Is it the opportunities you take
Or miss for some matter
With all the effort you put in
Yet it still doesn’t matter

What is life
What’s the purpose of it all
Is it really just one rise
That soon begins to fall ?
