The Rise of the Perfectionist

In this state of depression Caused by a world that demands perfection It has become easier to concentrate greatly on one’s flaws Sadness covering the face of one’s happiness And the rejection being plowed in the subconscious parts of their minds Shattering hopes And tearing dreams As esteem lowers into the dark pits of misery Being banished away by those of ‘greater perfection’ To ‘that place’ where only flaws exist For ‘that place’ only subsists in their minds As unacceptance grows raving through broken hearts While hatred roves in the mind leaving every bend and angle untouched, There seems to be no sign for upliftment of self-image With imperfections preventing foresights of burning desires With only the optimism of a chance.

I wrote this poem because I think that people need to accept and love themselves for who they are and not what other want them to be.
