Risen

The world needs this good news
Of the baby in the manger
Of the man who washed feet
Of the Son, a Savior for the stranger

I see him in the miracles.
I see him in the details
I see him holding the future
I see him restoring me from my plans that fail.

We needed to be loved
So we were given a Father
We were looking for guidance
And became a son or daughter.

We found forgiveness
At the foot of the highest throne
We were given mercy
From the one who wouldn't cast stone

There are scars that tell a story
Reminding us of our judgement
They're found on a man
With a heart without resentment

The one who inherits heaven
Was the one who washed feet
The one who befriended outcasts
Was the one who caused hell's defeat.

It was a bad Friday for Jesus
But a good one for us
Because for what he went through
He did it all on trust

A trust built on faith
Of knowing who he was
And what he suffered
Wasn't just because

He hung up on that cross
Then heaven stopped to listen
Because on that third day
He had risen.
