Rising
Shadowy fingers reach from the ground,
Searching for my throat.
Devils and demons fly from their graves,
They've come to rave and gloat.
I believed their lies and tore my clothes,
Ripped my life apart.
I look ahead with hopeful eyes,
But all I see is dark.
I felt the burn shred my soul,
The moment that I fell.
I know by this isolated breeze,
That I am now in Hell.
Their sharp claws pierce my heart,
But still I look ahead.
I can see now through the haze,
A glimpse of what God said.
He picks me up with gentle fingers,
Caressing my brokeness.
He takes me to a happy place,
Where I can finally rest.
And so I sit wiser now,
All my pain is gone.
I've been saved by the Lord my God,
Meant to sing a new song.
