The Rising Queen

Beautiful

Powerful

Roaring and

Soaring and

Flying

We once writhed in chains

But we still have not let them go

We live

We love

We die

All in sight

Of the chains

Chains of light

Chains of hand

Change command

I am a woman

I work, just like you

I am a woman

I live in fear of you

I am a woman

I deserve to be equal

to you

When I cry

I am ignored

When I try

I am ignored

When I succeed

I am ignored

more than anyone else

My only empowerment is

Myself

My steel

My song and

My God

I am a woman

I am a man with

some more

More love

More mind

More one-of-a-kind

Taking down my troubles

With all the strength

of a man

With all the grace

of a woman

With all the skill

of a human

With all the energy

for a life of my own

Free from you

Free for me
