The Risk
An uncertainty as foot touches ice
Blind and deaf to the intangible things.
We hesitate, we fear
What we know least.
Burrowed in Mother’s arms.
A safe haven from the wind who grips outside.
Windowpanes rattle and the floorboards creak.
The fire’s flames mesmerize,
Delaying Father Time
But time will wait for no soul.
With snow boots on snug,
We step out into the storm.
