The Rival / Abu Karim

Your eyes are as tranquil as those of a buffalo calf

reminding me of sudden rain at March with a gust.

After a scorching heat the humidity of rain mixes

with the body of nature. With your touch I feel

elation of a festival. Your eyes make me passionate

like the dark water of Jamuna   over  floods the vast fields

on both sides.

I have become crazy; I have

only a small boat that heaves in current and you have

the mooring rope in your hand.

Today you seem to be a

hailstorm, cold but hard as you pierce my distressed

bosom with constant strikes.

Today you are the rival of nature.
