The River

Observing nature is odd

Sitting there me and my rod

A sunken log

A croaking frog

The river to me seem flawed

I see some boulders cleaving the stream

The surface of the water loosing its gleam

The rapids cascade

The boulders fade

The noise and sight is a kind of dream

I feel the cold on me creeping

The wind picks up its sweeping

The sun goes down

The water turns brown

The river will not be sleeping

Out come the animals surrounding the shore

Owls, raccoons, foxes galore

All come meeting

Each have a greeting

Hoots and calls more than before

They all have their duties every one

They don't sleep until they're done

Fish and hunt

Squeal and grunt

All are busy sleeping are none

They make the river come alive

They have a home and thrive

Becoming one

And having fun

At some conclusion I arrive

With ugly additions the river is lawless

But animals can bring some solace

Working together

Despite the weather

They make the scene flawless
