Of the River

So harmonious We are brought upon Struck down Built up So mechanical Yet so fluid-like We sit We flow We rush We fall : Life is like a river Connecting two great bodies We sit together In such a great pool Until external forces On happenstance Bring us our chance To breathe To flow past And see as much as we can As we are pulled along by everyone else No time to stop Rushing over rocks Sometimes it will slow Almost to a stop But it does not forever last Because the other times will be fast In which you won’t notice Just what you’ve passed We all eventually get our chance To go from one ocean to another But not all of us get to experience All those other continents Because we don’t come into contact With them or a portion of our kin : Some are blessed with a long trek While some with one much less And some get lost along the way As if absorbed by the soil And the greatest of us all Those that are truly blessed Find their way, to evaporate into thin air Floating high above the rest To take in all the beauty All that exists alongside us But only for a moment Once they fall down They are no better than us All equal approaching the same This inevitable fate At the end of the ride To go back to the sea There’s no need to foresee We are left with no memory Of when we could be

Longboard_Man

I've been writing poetry for about two years now, I just finished my first year at Purdue and I am a gymnast, parkour enthusiast, longboarder and I do pretty much every other extreme sport, and I adore nature.
