River
River
I am the river, constantly flowing,
On a winding path, I am always growing.
I dodge and bypass some restrictions,
Yet I divide and cut through other obstructions.
I provide small ripples causing currents,
The calmness that brings assurance.
I produce massive waves creating white water,
The anger of justice that is nearly impossible to smother.
I shelter myself with the drooping branches of a tree,
The sadness and fear that comes with jeopardy.
I bustle through the open plains, showing myself to all,
The valor, determination, and strong will that enthralls.
I am constant, always moving to the ocean,
The dedication towards the mission.
I am unpredictable, yet coursing down a known route.
The knowledge of whom I am versus what’s left to find out.
Always moving, yet immovable,
Redirected and altered, yet durable.
Protective to those recognizable,
Yet threatening to those external.
Changing ideas, but set of one judgement,
Enlightened and taught, but consistent.
Sometimes I am strong, sometimes I am not,
Either way, I am sufficient, without another thought.
Admired by all for a multitude of reasons,
Known for my beauty through all the seasons,
Dependable and determined forever,
I know who I am...I am the river!
