a river

i saw a river

flowing with the spirit of the most high

through the dryest parts of my soul

the river of God my redeemer

flowing with the spirit of the holy one

unlocking all my chains

bringing freedom to the enslaved parts of my soul

i felt the water wash over my parched lips

bringing life to the dead parts of my soul

i reach out my hands

to grasph this living water

that liberates me from my sin

the living water that quenches my thirsty soul

i saw a river

running through a land of desperation

bringing peace to the war raging in my soul

breaking chains that bound me up as a slave to my own darkness

this living water that lifts burdens and helps the fallen

lifting those bent beneath their loads

i saw a mighty river

rushing towards my brokenness

i look to the living water in hope

for it satisfies my every hunger and thirst

it heals my every wound and cut and gash and bleeding soul

it covers me in a love so deep no ocean can compare

this living water is not like anything of the world

it is only found

in my Savior, Jesus Christ
