The river

The river so tranquil

as birds chrip to the sound of their

heart beats

The river calls to me under the watchful eye of the moon

I must go home but the water is so clear

Uneasiness fills me up

Someone is watching me from a distance

Closer and closer and closer the person walks,

it is a ghastly looking woman

She screams out into the night

"O where has my child gone to"

But she doesn't stray from the river

Maybe because I'm here

I go to the the woman seeing her up close

My mother

I reach out to her

but she can't see me

I look around at the riverbed

to see myself drifting away.

Years go by

and I am still here

Trapped by the river

never to leave the riverbed.
