As The River Flows

As the river flows, so will I love you. Strong and persistent in obliterating obstacles; As the rain makes the river grow, so will my love grow, But so also will it fade to a trickle, scarcely perceptible. My love makes up for strength in persistence. As the rocks remain at the river bottom, so will I love you. Always there, often neglected; Stronger than the forces brushing it will my love stay steady, But so also will it wear down to a pebble, lesser than other rocks. My love makes up for strength in steadfastness. As the grass on the riverbanks thrive, so will I love you. Lush and green, owing to the nourishment of the river; Rooted in the face of storms, Yet also will it mold to the will of the storm, acquiescing safety for peace. My love makes up for strength in endurance. As the dirt in the river does not weaken the river, so will I love you. Always a swirling mass, yet the river is resolute; Never letting the dirt overpower its purpose, Yet still, the dirt is there, fading some of the beauty of the river. My love makes up for strength with power. As the river flows, so will I love you. Hidden might in the bottom, nourishing on the surface, and steadfast through hindrances. As the rainclouds cause the river to grow, so will my love for you grow, Yet also as the sun causes the river to diminish, so will my love for you lessen. Yet never will my love die and so it grows and fades, as the river rushes and trickles. This is the promise I leave: As the river flows, so will I love you.
