River of Tears

I was staring at the ceiling; my mind was far from bed Her words were like a broken record playing in my head I was forced to face the truth; I’d rather face my fears instead Cause I’ll never forget what she said Now I’m dizzy and woozy, the rattle of an uzi Going off in my brain, and a sharp piercing pain Thinking my heart was kept safe behind an armored breastplate But no bullet proof vest made could deflect from that range Guess I’ve learned my lesson trying that stunt so death defying Cause now I’m left here crying until I’m all dried out But wait a sec, I’m soaking wet. There is no air; I hold my breath I can’t figure out where I am now All I remember is silhouettes and shadows and a room filled with silence And behind my eyelids were tears playing hide and seek A parasitic demon called love rooted itself under my skin That no priest could release from inside of me See no one ever told me that love would take control of me And utterly expose me to this imminent demise Shot down in the openness, I lie here motionless Hopelessly floating in a river of tears that I cried She said, “Stop digging around here! There’s no love to be found here!” And now I lie down here, drowning, in a struggle to survive Whether misguided direction, victim of false perception Or just the course of living, I’m barely alive My heart, it set a trap for me. I didn’t run, it captured me And then had the audacity to tell me I’m right Since I overstepped my boundaries, I’m wide awake, she’s sound asleep While my tears fall countlessly in a river of tears that I cried I CRIED… No parents’ preparation, nor teachers’ education Nor doctors’ dissertation could protect me from this Now correct me if I’m wrong, but I had to learn this on my own What doesn’t kill me makes me strong in the end She said, “Stop digging around here! There’s no love to be found here!” And now I lie down here, drowning… All I remember is silhouettes and shadows and a room filled with silence And behind my eyelids were tears playing hide and seek A parasitic demon called love rooted itself under my skin That no priest could release from inside of me See no one ever told me that love would take control of me And utterly expose me to this imminent demise Shot down in the openness, I lie here motionless Hopelessly floating in a river of tears that I cried
