The Road

A ribbon of hope trailing

Through the countryside.

The road lay desolate

Showing the way.

Two separate paths

To choose from

The road continues on.

Ashen snow falls

On the road.

Only a portion of

The dull grey landscape.

The road and its companions

Traverse the same path.

They are one as they go

On their journey.

Memories of stories told

Both true and not

Along the road.

Uninhabited houses

Line the road.

Desolate and dilapidated

Full of sadness

And lost hope.

Treasures imagined

At the end of the road.

But all that is needed

Is found along it.

He has many talents,

Possesses the know-how.

Yet all knowledge

Comes from the road.

Those that follow

And those that lead

Take one of many paths

On the road.

Where the road

Meets the ocean,

A grey disheartening

Sight is seen.

They navigate the road

Pushing their cart.

Strange sounds and shadows

Stirring fear in their hearts.

The grey sun has risen,

Over the road.

They must be walking on.

The ribbon was

No longer of hope.

The cold pulled him under

Leaving one behind.
