The Road to Discovery

Running around school on career day

wearing a smock, with pencils in my hair, and

a palette in my hand.  I was an artist until I

realized it was more than just coloring inside the

lines.

Putting on a performance, changing back stage,

and memorizing a routine.  I was a dancer, but

I didn't like the spotlight.

A swing of  bat, running the bases, catching the

ball. I was a softball player, until strike three.

Now I'm out.

Drawing houses and creating new designs.  I

was an architect, until I realized designing a

house was more than just drawing a bunch of

rectangles and triangles.

Dribbling the ball, passing to my teammates,

stopping  a breakaway, and scoring a goal.  I

was a dedicated soccer player until a "pop"

changed everything.  Two injuries requiring

surgery put me on a long road to recovery,

which I still travel today.

Everything I tried led to a dead end.  I wasn't

at all what I thought I would be, but I found out

along the way.

I am a resilient individual.

I am creative, determined, and passionate.

I am strong. I can endure what is to come

and it is because of this, I will be triumphant.
