Road to Hope

Characters are people,

People are characters.

After four years of college,

All-nighters, stress,

Obsessive questions,

I may just be able to get an internship.

I won't wait for a minimal job.

The minimal job I'll be forced to get will

Make or break me as I

Beg

To find anything meaningful.

If I find my first step

Pull myself upright

Out of poverty

I will be grateful enough.

Then I can begin to climb,

Make my work my play and my voice their voice

As I give a voice to everyone who is anyone

Deserving of safety

And respect

From themselves

Through characters.

My own illustrations

From all walks of life

And all forms of expectations

Sitting around their fire

And accepting one another.

Though I hope 'work' and this dream

Can be one in the same,

My real job is to help empower others

In this fantastical haze.
