The Road Not Taken

“The Road Not Taken” is one of Robert Frost’s most beautiful and most popular poems. I chose this poem because it is one of the first poems that I have read in English and I really enjoyed it. “The Road Not Taken” uses two paths as a symbol of a life decision. This poem  expresses life, because in life, there are important decisions that somehow can make big changes in our life. Sometimes it is hard to find our way out of something, but if we get a good chance in life, we better take it. Life is made up of choices.

In life I had been through this many times where I had to decide which path to choose. I was undecided about my career path until my High School years. I wasn’t sure what major to choose. I did not know if I wanted to be a doctor or a fashion designer. Since I was little I wanted to be a doctor because I always was thinking how good would be to help people. When I was in Middle School I had a friend, her name was Valieta, she was really intelligence, patient, and organized.  She always sat in the front of the class to hear the teacher and to focus on the studies. One day, she came in the class very sad and she sat in the end of the class and I asked her why she is sad, but she did not tell me anything. Days were passing, and she started being very arrogant and she wasn’t studying like before. Everyone in the class realized how much she had changed and we were worried about her. We tried to talk to her because we wanted to help her, but she ignored us.  In the end of the semester while we were in the class she started to cry really  bad and I insisted her to tell me what is happening in her life, why she was crying, why she changed a lot, so she told me that her mother was diagnosed with cancer and that she had one month left. When she told me that I was shocked, I did not know what to say and from that moment I tried to help and support her. After a month her mom passed away my friend wasn’t the same, so I felt very sad because when I remembered how she was in the beginning of the semester and how much she had changed. Despite of this, I wanted to be a doctor to help people and support them.

Another career that I liked it is to be a fashion designer. I wanted to be a fashion designer because I have a passion for art. I was thinking how good would be to create clothing for all sizes, ages, and genders. I thought by choosing this career I would have the opportunity to travel around the world. Also, that I will have the chance to meet fashion designers who will get to know a bit about me, my world, my background, which can help me to explore my designs.

The poem, “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost is about one of those special moments when one choice will change the course of one person’s life. The poem felt very connected to me and it helped me to choose the right way or option in my life. From this poem I learned that sometimes we have to let fate take lead. Before I started collage I decided to become a fashion designer because of passion for art. I am very happy that I chose this career and I am sure that I will never regret. Now, I am also sure like the poet that the new challenges and struggles we have to face them even though it will make differences in our life. Also, that we should be able to choose the correct path and move forward. Once we choose to travel in one way, we cannot travel back in time and choose the next one. So, we should be careful and observant while taking decisions and choose the path which we will not regret.
