The Roads

It pains me to see you as hurt as you are Knowing that I can't help heal the scar Though I would be able to heal it fast Life has chosen a different path What once was together is now apart A fork in the road where we did start When we started our journey we did not know Which path the other would soon go But on approaching the part that was split Our two maps decided where we went We followed our maps to our different ways But still keeping the other road within our gaze I wanted to help you when the path got hard Atlas, all I could do was watch from a far Though I could see you, our roads would not cross I didn't come over for fear of getting lost To my deep sorrow, our paths separated more To the point that squinting my eyes to find you became a sore The day came where I looked and you were nowhere to be found I knew you were far far away, on your journey bound I kept walking down my lonely pathway Till I got to my destination one fine day I did what I came for and left in a huff Heading back down the path that I thought was rough Hoping that when I came back to the fork in the road I would find you again and be able to lighten your load Though I did not know if you were coming back through I gladly waited everyday for you Just to have a chance to walk with you again Together at last, forever a friend
