Roads Well Traveled
A road well traveled
Dirty and grey
Equipped with signs
of movie cliche
Jamming bullets in
Never cocking the gun
Pull my hair back
I've nothing to say
But I know I can't stay
My mind it wanders
Past these streets
To other places
City beats
Welcoming strangers
To share the heat
There's nothing to say
I need to leave
Another dry heave
I'm a traveller
In heart and mind
No watch to care
For keeping time
Just let me climb
Out of this tank
And into the sea
Where I can be me
And free to be
Far away
From reality
Where skies are blue
And grasses green
Not dull grey
Like this city street
But what will I reach
I lost my map
Years ago
Driving through
A desert snow
Shadows formed
By the Sun's glow
Trying to escape
The streets I know
I need to go
I've lost my mind
I've been running
Out of time
Leaving home
Is not a crime
I'm just trying to think
Please let me breathe
I need some sleep
I've needed a rest
From this city street
There's much more to know
Am I ready to go
I'm a traveler
In heart and mind
No watch to care
For keeping time
Just let me climb
Out of this tank
And into the sea
Where I can be me
And free to be
Far away
From reality
Where skies are blue
And grasses green
Not dull grey
Like this city street
Can I face defeat
Now that I am thinking
I can see
And if I see
That I can leave
Then I will leave
Then I can go
And then I'll know
That I can be
Who I am
Like me for me
And then you too
Will also see
That we are great
When we are we
Phenomenally
I am a traveler
In heart and mind
No watch to care
For keeping time
Just let me climb
Out of this tank
And into the sea
Where I can be me
And free to be
Far away
From reality
Where skies are blue
And grasses green
Not dull grey
Like this city street
