Roar
The soft beating of a heart next to mine,
Shimmering light moves in slow time.
My ears are soothed by your soft words;
My eyes are calmed by your easy smile;
My mind is tranquil with your steady presence;
My heart is aglow with our shared love.
The roar of the rush, an endless flow,
The strong wooden bow splits the cold blue below.
My ears engulfed by the deafening noise;
My eyes full of the swift-flowing joys;
My mind enraptured by the endless expanse;
My heart captured by adventure so vast.
The roar of a battle from afar,
Glistening tears trickle to the floor.
My ears surrounded by hysterical cries;
My eyes sullied by a bloody sky;
My mind numbed by the countless men;
My heart torn by the cries for death.
The roar of silence is all that remains,
Glistening stars cry in a sky dark and stained.
My ears bombarded by quiet thunder;
My eyes blinded by obscure wonder;
My mind emptied yet endlessly full;
My heart hollowed by eternity's pull.
I remember that kind heart beating,
I recall the soft light dancing.
I can hear your gentle voice;
I can see your true smile;
I can feel your tranquil presence;
I can live on through our shared love.
